Maths = hard
So it’s been just over a year since my all time low point and it’s been a very lightly sloping walk back up. I’m nowhere near my phenomenal highs of Disney but I’m a long way off rock bottom as well.
The last few weeks have been the most interesting in that, while not a whole lot of stuff has “actually happened” i’ve suddenly discovered that things in my head are now starting to make sense. Like my brain has been trying to solve equations all year about who I actually am, and some answers are now slowly materialising.
It’s quite exciting at the moment and It feels like each day I’m learning to be more and more content with myself as a person. I still got a long way to go, lots of equations to solve and 1s to carry over though.
But I want you all to be more active on my journey. So expect more updates, more phone calls, more texts, more random tumblr posts and maybe even some surprise middle of the night visits (or something far more sensible if you prefer).
Just re-inventing myself as a hip-hop, geek, adventure gorilla named Drexel, yo.
First day recovering/trying to get my body clock back to normal after doing four 12-hour long night shifts at my store. And they weren’t even nice relaxing “sit around not-doing-much” night shifts. They were “we have a metric-fuck-ton of shit that needs doing and you’re the idiots that are going to be doing it” night shifts.
I have an ugly beard thing from not shaving all week. it must die.
Vlog 02 - Excuses, Excuses,
So a guy came in to my store today wearing a really discrete Evangelion hoodie - it was plain green except for a big gold NERV logo on the back… I thought it was awesome because although it was a piece of clothing from what some may consider to be a geeky show, unless you actually watch the show yourself you’re going to have no idea what NERV is and therefore the only people that will be able to identify it as geeky will be fellow geeks.
I told him his hoodie was awesome and I think I made his day. I kinda wish I was wearing my not-so-discrete Evangelion Unit 02 watch (see above) at the time, but I usually reserve wearing that for special occasions (or times when I want to look like an off duty power ranger).
It reminded me of a conversation I was having recently with my good friend Piratemoggy about that sort of subtle geek apparel and it kind of makes me want to go out and find more of it.
I currently own said watch, 2 Desmond Miles replica hoodies from Assassin’s Creed (a white one which matches the one from Brotherhood and a black one which matches the one from Revelations), a Desmond Miles replica T-shirt from AC Brotherhood (this I especially love because throughout the whole game you can only really see the top of this sticking out from under his hoodie), an Abstergo Industries hoodie, a Gryffindor scarf (from the wizarding word of Harry Potter so you know it’s authentic) and I guess that’s about it.
I’ve wanted Sam Fisher’s backpack from Splinter Cell Conviction for as long as I’ve owned the game, but I don’t think anything even remotely similar to it exists in real life.
Oh yeah, kind of a bonus Item but my leather jacket has a UNSC patch ironed on to the sleeve (which I got free with my special edition of Halo Reach). Nobody has ever questioned it as being geeky.
Y’all should reblog with your subtle and discreet geeky items of clothing and accessories.
Was going to do a second video today but I’ve ended up actually doing more productive things instead. Not that the video is an unproductive thing. In fact, after making the first one last week i’ve had a real boost on the fitness side of things. Lost 4 pounds!
I think I’ll hopefully have time to make one tomorrow before my sister and brother-in-law fly in! Cannot. Wait. To. See. Them.
It’s me… in video form!
Foots 95% recovered and I’m back to work today. Looking forward to it.
